William Helriegel III *

Bill Helriegel, a man with a smile, deserves enshrinement in the Hall of Fame not only for his long tenure in Akron radio, but for his successful record as a pioneer sales representative for station, WAKR. He worked as an Account Executive for WAKR for nearly thirty years, 1953 to 1983. He loved his job and was devoted to his clients. His pleasing personality, his perseverance and skill in public relations won for him friends and favor. His associates classified Bill as strictly a professional salesman who believed it took honesty and efficiency to serve his advertisers on WAKR. Bill was a graduate of Penn State University and remained active in alumni affairs. He was a member of the Akron Advertising Club and the Fairlawn Country Club. He died in 1983, survived by his wife, Kitty, three daughters and two step-sons.
