Tim Taylor serves as the Chief Anchor of FOX 8 NEWS at 6 and 10 p.m, Monday through Friday on WJW.
Tim is a member of the prestigious "Silver Circle," honored for his more than a quarter of a century of contributions to Cleveland television by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is also a longtime member of the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame and is a charter member of the Bedford High School Hall of Fame. Tim recently became only the second Cleveland television news anchorperson ever honored with the Cleveland Association of Broadcaster's "Excellence In Broadcasting" Award.
Tim has also been voted "Favorite Male News Anchor" in polls conducted by both Cleveland Magazine and the Akron Beacon Journal.
Taylor has been with WJW since July 1977, after beginning his television career with WEWS- TV 5, initially as the city's first consumer ombudsman "Action Reporter" and then as weekend news anchor. In addition to his primary anchor role, Taylor has covered presidential conventions, inaugurations, papal
visits, the Three Mile Island Nuclear Disaster and the World Series as well as one-on-one interviews with many of America's top newsmakers, including Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton.
The first ten years of Taylor's 35-plus year career were spent in radio, including seven years as News Director ofWHK Radio. It was there that Taylor earned recognition for his live coverage of such historic news events as the second Sam Shepard trial, the Hough Riots, the Glenville shootout, blastoff to splashdown live coverage of the aborted Apollo 13 mission and the Kent State shootings, for which he received an Emmy for his 25th anniversary perspective piece on the Kent State tragedy.
Tim is most proud of his involvement in the invitational charity golf tournament that bears his name. The Tim Taylor Invitational Golf Tournament to Benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeast Ohio is an annual sellout and has raised more than a half million dollars in its ten year history.
An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Tim and his wife Cathy enjoy sharing their love of animals and nature with their six adult children and three grandchildren. Tim was born May 19th.
