Patricia (Pat) Kennard

      Hailing from Canton, Ohio, Pat began her career at WHBC in Canton in 1976. She soon became recognized for her sensitive and objective reporting as a news anchor for TV-23 and later for WAKR-AM radio. Broadcasting, she states, is a profession which allows one to absorb knowledge of a myriad of topics and provides an opportunity to meet people who enrich one's life. She has received a number of prestigous awards, including "Who's Who Among Black Americans", "Black Media Award", and "Crystal Award" for community service. Her public speaking skills ahve been appreciated at many area churches, schools, and other institutions of higher learning. Her volunteer activity continues with work for the "Coming Together" project, telethon hosting for the "Childrens's Miracle Network" and reading for the Akron Blind Center. She served as a panelist on the "Media Five Feedback" program hosted by Sam D Donaldson and Cokie Roberts.
