Mark Williamson

         Mark Williamson is the 6 p.m. Anchor, News Director and Producer for WAKC Television in Akron. His broadcasting career began in 1978 in Kent, Ohio. He joined WAKR AM as a courthouse, police and general assignment reporter in 1979. In 1980, Williamson became WAKR TV’s (now WAKC) 6 and 11 p.m. Anchor. He was named to his position as news director and producer in 1987.

   Williamson has been active in many community organizations including serving as Honorary Chair of the Heart Association Walk-A-Thon, Chair of the Annual Corporate Bowling Tournament Fundraiser for the Akron Zoo and as a fundraiser for the Interval Brotherhood Home.

   Williamson is an Akron Press Club Award Winner and has been twice nominated for a Cleveland Emmy. Mark joined the staff of Akron’s Mayor Don Plusquellic in April of 1996 as the Mayor’s Press Secretary and the City’s Communications Director.
