Mayme Curtiss
Sapp was born in
Ashtabula
,
Ohio
on January 12, 1901 and passed away on December 16, 1984. A graduate of
Kent
State
Normal School
, Mayme then continued a musical education in
Chicago
at the
Kimball
School
of Organ. She joined Station WADC in
Akron
in 1931 as Staff Pianist, and gained much popularity with two of her unique
piano programs, “Remember” and “Test Your Memory.” Mayme also was a
well-known radio personality of the early 40’s. Her programs on both piano
and organ stressed standards and nostalgia that pleased the WADC listening
audience. Mayme’s radio career continued when she moved to Hollywood,
Florida, where she was featured on Channel 10, an ABC affiliate, and some
other radio stations in the
Miami
area.
