Kenneth
Hildebrand has done it all - a singer on WADC, an announcer on WJW and a
newscaster on WSLR! Mr. Hildebrand’s career began in the early 1930’s,
when radio was just coming on strong in
Akron
. In 1936, he moved to
Pittsburgh
, where he won the coveted H. P. Davis Announcer Award. He did the
West Virginia
University
football play-by-play, blow-by-blow boxing from
Hickory
Park
and color for the
Pittsburgh
Steelers and Hockey Hornets. In 1961, he moved to
Cleveland
, where he did local news and won the
Cleveland
Press Club Award twice. He also won the Twyla Conway Award. After many other
radio activities, Mr. Hildebrand returned to
Akron
to finish his career with a term as newscaster for WSLR.
