John W. "Jake" Mintz *

Jake Mintz was a pioneer in Akron radio. He helped put WADC on the air initially and in later years served as an advisor to Allen T. Simmons. During the World War II years, he worked at the WADC transmitter. After the war, he opened his own radio and TV store and remained there until his death in 1956. His daughter, Ilene, and her husband, Charles Hoover, are also 1985 inductees in the Akron Radio Hall of Fame.
