Joyce Johnson

      Joyce Johnson always said that she was "born with a radio name". She started her career as a stage actress in the Ohio School system. However Joyce had her sights set on going to Broadway. While Joyce was a freshman, at the tender age of 18, she began her career with PBS, WOUB AM as a board operator. She could only work on the weekends. Not long after that, she became the host of a very controversial talk show. Joyce also anchored the News Watch in addition to hosting a Saturday Night Jazz show. After Joyce finished an internship with WEWS TV 5, she received her first commercial television position, as an anchor for WRQC IN Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She then became the News Director at WCUE Radio station while she also did the traffic reports for WMMS, WMJI and other local stations. Joyce also worked as a reporter/weather forecaster and air personality for the former WAKR/WONE/WAKR TV and Radio. Joyce has appeared on CNN on numerous occasions and Voice of America in Washington, D.C. She spent her next seven years as the News and Public Affairs Director of WQMX Radio where she started a charity fund, "The Love Fund" that helps members of the community who are in need. Joyce continues to work for WNIR Radio but is currently a co-owner of a full-service public relations agency, JOHNSON & OLSON COMMUNICATIONS, IN Fairlawn, Ohio. She has served as a board member for the HUMANE SOCIETY of GREATER AKRON, worked with children at the WEATHERVANE COMMUNITY THEATER. Joyce has also helped more than a decade with the MIRACLE NETWORK TELETHON at the CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER of AKRON. Joyce continues to spend her time, money and talent to help WVIZ-TV, WNEO/WEAO TV 45//49 in Kent and continues to raise funds for FAMILY SERVICES of SUMMIT COUNTY.
