“Pollyanna, The Glad Girl” was the name many people called Josephine Dye Duprey, and for good reason. She was the featured soloist and continuity writer on this popular WADC show from 1930 through 1932. She was also a singer on WTAM in Cleveland . Jo Dye was the lead singer with the Three Blue Notes, with “Lum ‘n Abner,” and with Pinkey Hunter’s and Maurice Spitalny’s bands. She married a trombone player – Don Duprey and, in 1954, made a career change by enrolling in Case Western Reserve University as a freshman. She graduated cum laude in English Literature in 1959 and with a Master’s degree in 1969. Mrs. Duprey was an English teacher for many years and lived in Cleveland . |
