Irwin L. Knopp was born in Stauton, Virginia, on
May 19, 1915. He was a graduate of
Akron
East High,
Goodyear
University
and Production Squadron. He was employed as a radio engineer at WAKR in
1942. He became Chief Engineer in 1945, and Technical Director in 1952. He
was elevated to Director of Engineering for all of the Group One Stations.
He retired in 1980 after 38 years with WAKR.
