Henry
Niederkofler *
Henry was born
in 1916. He obtained an amateur license in 1934 and constructed a
transmitter and receiver on 160 meters. He became an instructor of radio for
the National Organization in 1938. Later, with the Signal Corps, Henry was
stationed in
Philadelphia
. He studied advanced electronics at
Temple
University
and then joined Westinghouse Corporation as a Design Engineer in the
development of search radar for the Navy. After World War II, he served as
Chief Engineer at WDAD and WESA both in
Pennsylvania
. Henry came to
Akron
and assumed the position of Chief Engineer at WHKK. In 1956, he became Chief
Engineer of WCUE and still holds that position upon his induction into the
Radio Hall of Fame in 1984.
