Harriet Leaf was Akron’s “Story Lady” from 1941 through 1957. The head of the Children’s Department at the Akron Public Library for 30 years, Leaf broadcast children’s classic stories of fairy tales adapted or written in dramatic form. She believed such programs would *”promote new contacts between the Library and children and help establish high standards in radio programs for the young.” Leaf’s programs were aired over WAKR. She died in July of 1986 at age 93. | |
