Howard W. Hoffmann *

Before Howard Hoffmann became one of the first employees of WXEL (Channel 9) in Cleveland , he was a performer in New York City where he worked in Musical Comedy, Nite Clubs and Vaudeville with Gaxton & More, Shirley Booth, Milton Berle, Jackie Gleason, Martha Raye and Rose Marie. He later toured with the Stan Kenton Band. All of this prepared him for a variety of positions with Cleveland ’s WXEL. Hoffmann stayed with the station when it became WJW in 1954 and continued to do news and weather shows until 1986. Even in retirement, Hoffmann’s talents are sought and he frequently does free lance work.
