Ryel
Floyd joined
WADC in 1937 at their remote studio in
Canton
. He was announcer for the many live programs that originated daily from the
Canton
studios. In 1938, he transferred to the main WADC studios in
Tallmadge
, where he worked the early morning sign-on program. From 1939 to 1944, he
worked at WCAO,
Baltimore
, and WCAU,
Philadelphia
. He returned to
Akron
as an announcer on WAKR; and, in December of 1944, he started signing-on
WAKR as he hosted the “Musical Clock” morning show. In 1946, he left
WAKR and joined WSRS, Cleveland. In 1954, he moved to WHHH, Warren, where he
remained until his retirement in 1980. He continues to reside in
Warren
.
