Elmer M. Reighard

      Elmer M. Reighard born in 1923 in Akron . Known in radio circles as “Rick”, he entered radio broadcasting in 1947 at WHKK when Russell Richmond was General Manager and Lew Henry was Program Director. Rick has the distinction of signing on Station WCUE when it started operation on Saturday, February 11, 1950. He left full-time announcing in 1967 to become producer-director for Akron University ’s closed circuit television center. In 1973, he was made head of that department until his first retirement in 1981. After locating in Port Richey , Florida , the radio bug hit him again, and he worked for two years at WGUL AM-FM in that city. Rick took his second retirement in November of 1983.
