Dick was born in Cleveland in 1926. He entered the Columbia University School of Journalism and received a Master of Science degree in 1949. Dick Dietz was indeed a career man. He excelled in journalism, communications and public relations. While in Akron , he was very much a part of the radio scene at WAKR. Here is a brief biography of his achievements: He came to Akron to work at the Beacon Journal and remained there until 1956, when he became News Director for WAKR TV and radio. He was at WAKR for three years and enjoyed the shift from print media to audio and video and delighted in scooping his former employer whenever possible. Before his death in 1971, he was employed by the public relations consultant and spokesman for the Cleveland Clinic and in this capacity appeared on both radio and TV. He is survived by his wife and three children. |
