Don Dayton was born in Elkins , West Virginia in 1895. He moved to Akron and worked at Sun Radio. br> As a superb radio technician and engineer, he helped to get WAKR on the air with the building of the station’s first transmitter. br> Dayton set up the first sound systems for the Soap Box Derby and the Singing Tower . br> He left WAKR and was employed during World War II by Goodyear Aircraft. He died in 1964. |
