Candy Lee Korn

It is not surprising that an experienced stage and screen professional be selected to preside as co-host of WEWS-TV’s (Cleveland) “Uncle Jake’s House”. Candy Lee held that post for two years. By June, 1951, she was ready to move to other projects and, at the age of nine, she was the “Nation’s Youngest D.J.”. She stayed at WDOK for ten years, and hosted a variety of shows that reflected her personal growth. Her music started with kid tunes and ended with rock and roll.

Candy Lee was also a regular on WEWS TV’s Gene Carroll Show and she hosted her own radio program on the Baldwin Wallace College station. She stumped the “What’s My Line?” panel in 1959. She was the Clearasil Personality of the Month and was twice runner-up in the Miss Teen Contest sponsored by Teen Magazine. Lee also made appearances to help raise money for the Heart Fund, the March of Dimes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Diabetes Association. She was the Teen Chair for the Muscular Dystrophy Drive .
