Clarence "Joe" Jolliff *

Clarence Jolliff was born on October 1, 1891 and passed away on December 17, 1966. For twenty years he was employed at WADC as Traffic Manager. He formulated a wonderful innovation, an unusual Traffic Control Board devised to show immediately daily program listings, commercials, sponsors and time periods. Joe received several honored citations by both the station and the network for his excellence in Traffic Management. In 1947, Joe wrote and produced the Saturday evening feature show called “Radio, Then and Now,” which was a collection of early tunes on Edison circular discs plus simulated news flashes of past radio years. During his career at WADC, Jolliff collected hundreds of recordings as a hobby.
