Calvin
W. Heintz
Back
in 1937, 38, and 39, Cal was heard on Akron area stations; WJW, WADC and
WAKR in many radio productions produced by Mac and Joyce McGrath and the
Akron Board of Education.
In 1942, he was employed as an announcer
on the staff at WADC, which was then located in
Tallmadge
.
From 1943 to the close of World War II,
he served in the South Pacific with the U.S.N.R.
In 1946, Mr. Heintz came to WCMW in
Canton
, and while there, he was not only a staff announcer, but became Traffic
Manager, Farm editor and Assistant to the General Manager. He always did
live broadcasts from the
Stark
County
Fair, the
Summit
County
Fair and
Ascot
Race Track. He produced and moderated 26 weekly high school debates on WEWS,
Channel 5 in
Cleveland
. Cal, now retired from broadcasting, currently resides in Bella Vista,
Arkansas
.
