| Photo Not Available | Bill YounkinM began his broadcasting career in 1968 at WHBC in Canton soon after graduating from Ohio State University. He then became Akron's radio news voice over WHLO. He moved into television as a free-lance reporter for WEWS-TV Channel 5, in 1975 and in 1981, he became the general assignment reporter for the station, co-anchoring Good Morning Cleveland and News Channel 5 at Noon. He also produced a weekly Crimestoppers series for the station. He received the Best Investigative Reporting Award from the Associated Press for a series of reports regarding an Akron man wrongly convicted of a crime. The man was released from a life prison sentence thanks to Bill's extensive investigation. He also received a Cleveland Press Club Award for the series and also won an Emmy Award for a News Channel 5 special program, The Magic of TV. In 1991, Bill served as an international news reporter during the Persian Gulf Crisis. |
