"Bob" Lape
Bob
Lape is on the air today as he has been for a half century. Bob is an Emmy
Award winner member of Who’s Who In
America
. He brought food to prime time television in America’s largest market on
leading stations and kept it there continuously for 30 years.
Bob served the “Today Show” as a food critic and
Entertainment Tonight as a media critic. “Bob Lape’s Dining
Diary” is aired fifteen times weekly on W.C.B.S. Newsradio 88. His
restaurant profiles are available around the clock in most
New York City
hotels via the Applevision service. A respected authority on American eating
and drinking patterns, Bob has frequently criss-crossed the nation making
guest appearances on TV and radio programs and judging cooking competitions.
Bob graduated from
Kent
State University with a B.S. degree in Journalism and Radio Speech, and won
a master’s assistant ship from
Ohio
University
.
He served as news director of broadcast
stations in
Akron
(W.C.U.E.),
Providence
(W.I.C.E.), and
Boston
(W.B.Z.) before coming to
New York
.
“The Eyewitness Gourmet”, his
trail-blazing series for the ABC flagship station, was the most popular
local television news feature in
America
for 12 years, spawning local news food exposure in many markets and
presaging the Food TV Network.
He currently anchors “The C.P.A.
Report”, a monthly subscription video service. He is a member of Screen
Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
