Art Fleming (Fazzin)*

      Television viewers throughout America know Art Fleming as the original host of the classic TV quiz show, “Jeopardy.” This popular show brought Art two Emmy Award nominations during the twelve years it ran consecutively on network TV.
      Art is also remembered as the host for seven years on another acclaimed quiz program, “College Bowl.” But Akron radio listeners remember Art as Art Fazzin (his real last name), an announcer on WAKR from 1948 to 1952. Art describes his years in Akron as the real foundation for his successful career. His program is recalled by the phrase “Nothing fazes Fazzin!”
      In addition to his quiz show duties, Art has appeared in many motion pictures and episodic TV shows. He lived in St. Louis where he was heard on KMOX on the program, “At Your Service” and also hosted a syndicated radio show, “When Radio Was.”
      In 1992, Fleming retired and moved with his wife to Crystal River , Florida . Art Fleming died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Crystal River on April 25, 1995, at the age of 70.
