Reggie Miles began his career in radio in 1975 as a student at the then 10-watt college station WKKC FM in Chicago. Reggie was one of the first student on air announcers. After several years as a successful host of an adult oriented program which laid the foundation for the “Best VarIety of Hits and Dusties format, Reggie became a Christian in November of 1994 and redirected his God given talent as a Gospel Radio Angel. During the fail of 1995, Reggie decided to complete his education and enrolled in Columbia College. While attending Columbia, Reggie was hired as Operation. Manager of WKKC FM and returned to the airwaves as a Gospel Radio announcer. His impact on the airwaves in Chicago was tremendous. Reggie received the announcer of the year award in 1996 by the ECC Music Workshop and received the Chicago Religious Arts and Science Award for his dedication in bringing religious music to WKKC-FM. In addition, during his tenure as operation manager, WKKC FM was awarded the honor of Black College Radio Station of the Year in 1997 and in June of 1997, Reggie became station manager of WKKC FM. Mr. Miles was the first to introduce station call letters with the “dot” emphasis. WKKC FM 89 “point” 3 became 89 “dot” 3 FM. Reggie became the first former student to return as an instructor in the Broadcasting program at Kennedy King College. Reggie continued playing Gospel music in the early morning hours from 5:00 AM until 9:00 AM. Reggie became dedicated to serving God’s people as a gospel Announcer. The success of Gospel programming on WKKC caught the attention of Crawford Broadcasting who hired Reggie as a weekend announcer in December of 1999. Reggie Miles is an award winning Gospel Announcer. Reggie labored at WKKC for over 20 years. As station manager of WKKC FM, Reggie exposed the religious community of Chicago to radio’s first Gospel Rap program, Reggie also has worked for Crawford Broadcasting in Indiana and Clear Channel in Baltimore. Reggie is currently an instructor at Howard University Gospel Historian, and audio engineer and consultant. |
